My mother used to sing The Bell Song from Lakme while she was vacuuming the house. Like rolling off a log, all the high notes perfect.
She had a very clear, almost icy coloratura soprano...but it was a "small" voice, and she did oratorio and church work but wasn't considered right for an opera career.
I still wonder sometimes if she should have tried a little longer...but she was a classic '50's woman and didn't feel the drive, I guess.
