Anyone remember The New York Dolls? |
|
They were a rock band from the early 70's. They were loud, colorful and audacious. There was never a dull moment when they were on stage. Great lighting and pyrotechnics every time I seen them.
First time I seen them they were backing up David Bowie. Think he had something to do with the Dolls coming into existence?
Never missed them once when they came to Chicago back then.
Anyone else remember them?
All the young dudes ...

1. They are my wife's favorite band of all time |
|
she's not too crazy about the current Two York Dolls, though.
They were great. I was playing their version of "Showdown" yesterday.

4. People would know David Johansen from the 80s |
|
He took the stage name of Buster Poindexter under which he played in the SNL house band and had that hit song "Hot Hot Hot". He also played the cab driver ghost in the Bill Murray movie Scrooged.
New York Dolls were awesome. Glam Rock and protopunk rolled up into one package. They don't get the credit they deserve as founders of Punk.
