Anyone know anything about wheat belly - weight gain because of wheat? |
|
I'm just reading a book and it seems to make a lot of sense. I'll try the diet.

although people do gain and lose at different rates due to their metabolism, which can be affected by many factors.

3. I'm interested in low carb diets that perhaps will work even though I eat |
|
peas and carrots and berries several times a week. It is worth a try to go gluten free. I'll soon know if it works or not. You are probably right though.

6. I lost 40-50 lbs and 5 inches within months after quitting gluten |

Then again, I'm celiac, so YMMV. What you're trying to do is make your thyroid work. Thus, you want to cut back on goitrogens (anything bad for your thyroid, of which gluten is certainly one) and make sure you're getting enough iodine daily either by taking tablets from kelp or by eating seafood by the ton. Avocados help thyroid function a lot, too.
Cutting carbs is highly ill-advised. Your body needs sugars. For that matter, your body also needs fats. It's getting your body to handle them that is the hard thing.

4. I remember back in the 1970's |

Everybody wanted to be hypoglycemic, and they were all following special diets.
This gluten stuff is probably just another disease of the month. I realize that there are people who are actually gluten sensitive to a dangerous degree, but if all of us were we would have died out long ago.

5. That's just what they used to say about smoking. If it was bad, smokers would all be dead. |
