KILLING ANDREA -- THE RALLY HAS BEGUN |
|
Edited on Sat Apr-22-06 03:02 PM by Th1onein
I just wanted to let you guys know that people have begun gathering for the rally outside St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston. A local news station, Channel 26, is there right now, and we have heard from the Houston Chronicle that they will cover this, too.
Please, those of you who are internet savvy, post this to other blogs, so that we can get more people out there!
Thank you so much, DUers, for all of your help.
Melanie Childers
On edit: I didn't realize that this would post twice! Can someone delete this dupe? I don't know how!

5. Her sister is in hospital in TX. They want to pull the plug and kill her |
|
It has to do with the murderous law shrubby signed when he was Gov. of TX. Hospital has the right even if family and patient say no. See here... http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=938139

6. I have posted about this for days... |

Andrea Clark is my sister. She is in St. Luke's Episcopal Houston in Houston, TX located at 6720 Bertner. Our family and friends are trying to keep St. Luke's from disconnecting Andrea from life support. This is NOT like the Terri Shiavo case. Andrea is fully cognizant and does not want to die. She has made this very clear.
There is a law in Texas, which George W. Bush signed into effect in 1999, called the "Futile Care Law." This law allows a hospital to determine a person's fate when the doctor feels that it is "medically futile" to continue care for that patient. The hospital can do this whether the family agrees or not, and whether the patient agrees or not. They can do it unilaterally.
We are demonstrating in front of St. Luke's to draw attention to the fact that they are going to do this to our sister. Andrea has insurance. She is fully covered for her treatment, but the insurance company is putting pressure on the hospital to pull the plug and the hospital is going to pull it.
We have a lawyer. We were not notified in time of their decision to get another's doctor's opinion, but we are trying to force the hospital to back down so that we will have time to do that and time to get Andrea into another facility.
We need help. We need help protesting. Please, if you live in the Houston area, come to 6720 Bertner Ave. All of the major news stations are camping out with us there, right now. This is a very important issue and they want to cover it.

Good luck, I wish I was there. I would be right out with you. I went through a similar situation with my brother but thankfully here in Kansas we did not have that draconian law and I was able to do everything he wanted done before I had to let go.
I wish you luck and every good thought I have is with you now. Stay safe and strong.

I'm so glad that this is finally going to turn attention to the fact that Terri Shiavio was just a political ploy for Bush because Bush really never cared about keeping the infirmed alive.

Keep up the heat on them!!!!!
Let them know that evil shall not be accepted anymore.
The dark shrub and his laws and practices that end up with so many killed shall leave his name in history as one of history's most evil people.
You have my support! You let them know how pissed I am at their will to end human life so easily!!

14. Where are the self-righteous 'pro-lifers' now? |
|
Anyone know what organizations were specifically involved with the Schiavo case, and if we can deluge them with phone calls till their phones are off the hook?
Where is Bill Frist on this? Can we show him some video footage and have him 'diagnose' her through a visual alone, and have him outraged and deciding that she must live?
