I am a 20-year old college student from Houston, Texas. My first candidate, John Kerry, is not running for President. It has taken several weeks to get over that. I have now.
Rather than turn this topic into a debate on the candidates, I will not mention the candidates I am watching.
I have visited a few candidates websites and looked into volunteering. I am willing to suspend school, pack up and move across the country to help get a Democrat elected. However, each website has explicitly stated that they are not responsible for helping you out with housing. Now if the candidates truly care about getting the younger kids involved, they must make it easier to get involved. I work part-time; I do not have extra money to throw around. I definitely do not have the money to stay in a hotel for an extended period of time. Hillary Clinton raised 26 million in the first quarter; Obama also raised in the 20s; the candidates have plenty of money to help kids, and others, volunteer. With all of that money floating around, why is it that candidates cannot setup some sort of housing plans for volunteers?
I will do anything in my power to help a Democrat get elected in 2008. If I have to do it from here, then that is fine. But obviously my efforts would be much better served in a battleground state.
Thanks for reading my rant,
Thomas

Find your local DNC and volunteer.
If you really want to do something send a few buck's to Jim McDomet's defense fund.....
