Palin protest: Sunday, 10/5/08, 10:30 a.m., BURLINGAME, CA |
|
Welcoming party: No matter how she fares during Thursday's debate, GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin can count on a big greeting - from protesters as well as supporters - when she shows up at the Hyatt Regency in Burlingame this weekend for what may be her one and only appearance in the Bay Area.
Democrats have already sent out a flyer to party activists urging them to turn out in force for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday brunch to send a message that "Republican values are not welcome in Northern California."

I looking forward to attending the protest. Nevertheless, we must be tolerant and making statments like "Republican values are not welcome in Northern California" does not demonstrate that we are open minded nor does it demonstrate that we welcome diversity. I live in the area and have many friends who are among the people you say are not welcome here and while I disagree with them on their politics, I value their friendships. Where do we stop at when we don't welcome certain people in a community, do we really want to use bully politics instead of win the hearts and minds of others? It is sure no way to win the people! Let's show tolerence and let's show we do not stoop down to this level. On the other hand, let's have our voice heard on Sunday and let's not let Sarah slip into town without an opposing viewpoint.
