2. The only way for that to happen would be "Gore/Obama" |
|
which is probably also quite unlikely.

3. Neat way to get around Gore's refusal to endorse dear Barry. |
|
And how condescending. Barry Obama thinks Al Gore, who has the respect of the planet, should report to Barry Obama and follow Barry's orders? Well, isn't that special.
GORE HAS NOT ENDORSED OBAMA. This is Obama's attempt to get around that.
And you are all falling for it.

6. NEVER EVER EVER HAPPEN |
|
Gore is not going to take 2nd fiddle.
He's done with politics, and I'm not sure he would even take Any position in a new administration.
But even if he did, NEVER would he take the VP slot.

10. Enough with calling Obama "Barry" |
|
How about we call one candidate "Senator Clinton", "Clinton" or "Hillary Clinton" or I suppose even "Hillary" and call the other candidate "Senator Obama", "Obama", "Barack Obama" or even "Barack". Why don't we leave it to the Republicans to use diminutive names for the Democratic candidates.

Gore certainly doesn't need another round as VP for his ego. But he could be a unique VP. Given Gore's experience and reputation, Obama could ask him to play whatever role the two of them agree makes sense. They could arrange it so Gore has great opportunities to work on environmental issues - more than he does as Citizen Gore. A President Obama could also trust a VP Gore to go out and conduct diplomacy, lead commissions, etc. Not to push the analogy, but if Gore cares about affecting global events, he could be like a Dem version of Cheney (with a different type of boss than Cheney's, of course). So, why couldn't Obama make an offer that Gore could accept?
Other pluses for Obama: Lends Obama gravitas, real ability to give advice, "steady hand on the till" (as the Republican candidates of 2000 promised) no small measure of popularity and mainstream appeal at this point.
Minuses for Obama - he'd have to share the spotlight and share some of the power. He'd have to really want the advice. Otherwise it just wouldn't work. I don't think that should really be a problem if there's mutual respect between them.
Very interesting idea.

11. Why would he do that (again)with someone like BO? |
|
War time military vet, newspaperman, congressman, senator, author, oscar-winning film-maker and multi-millionaire businessman Al Gore wan to cozy up to BO?

12. Why? - One Word - Platform |

As VP, Gore has the power and the influence of the US Federal Government behind him to accomplish his goals. No more flying commercial and as President of the (hopefully) Democratic Senate, he can guide his agenda into law.
