I love Mort and I even have his signature... from an event I heard him speak at about a decade ago. He's the real deal when it comes to pundits. Thoughtful and objective.

That's what I don't understand. The Clinton argument seems to be based on a primary win equalling a general election win. And on that assumption (which is questionable), Obama has an impressive column of victories.

Mort is not saying he has shown he can't win. He is saying Obama still has` a claim to the nomination... even tho he is a little bruised right now. The onus is on Hillary to prove otherwise.

From most of the people here. I'm on the side eating popcorn, hoping that this will drag out to the bitter end so that whoever wins will have to make concessions to us that might actually mean something.

Most everyone else is cheering for their "favorite." Disgusting when something so critically important becomes a popularity contest.

And I agree with you- these last few years have brought out the very worst in all of us. When the going gets rough, we all stop thinking.

I went from being dubious about our nation due to some serious injustices done to me, to wondering whether we were EVER something special. We've been screwing the common man since Shay's Rebellion...and things don't look too different today.

But when I got to: "He's also now revealed as the most liberal Member of the U.S. Senate" I paused since this is debunked nonsense from cherry picked votes, not even all roll call votes, in order to obtain a desired result then stopped reading after "-- and one who has never, ever departed from party orthodoxy to form the kind of bipartisan coalition he says -- correctly -- that it will take to solve America's problems" since just a glance at his Illinois state legislative record belies that without even getting into his short time in the United States Senate.

Sorry, I do like to give all ideas a fair shake but sometimes, after reading repeated denigration of Obama supporters and obviously sloppy (deliberately?) regurgitation of easily disproved talking points, it is hard to continue through the end of an article.

For instance,he says this about the Clinton Camp:

"The Clinton campaign managed to polarize the contest racially -- despite his heated denials, Bill Clinton did liken Obama to the Rev. Jesse Jackson in South Carolina -- and Obama has had to resort to negative campaigning to counterpunch at Clinton."

I don't agree with him here ... but I still see how an intelligent person could think that. He has a right to that opinion.

Mort also says good things about Obama. I don't hold that against him. There are good things about both of our candidates, and bad.

Kondracke is from the old school. You know, when journalists were supposed to maintain some semblence of objectivity? He's telling us how it looks from his viewpoint..... which I happen to think is a pretty valid one, for Dems who wish to win in November.
