Cash Scarcity Concerns GOP
It appears the Republican party is having a cash flow problem. Too bad.

The development comes as Republican officials and big donors are complaining that the RNC has insufficient money to help the party's candidates in advance of the November elections.

"There have been some concerns from some of the committee members about the money on hand and how much money comes in," said Gary Emineth, chairman of the North Dakota Republican Party. "There just isn't a lot of cash available."

GOP consultant Scott Reed said that "usually, at this phase of the game you are raising and saving a lot of money. But that's not what is happening."

But some of Mr. Steele's critics say the RNC's current balance also reflects a falloff in fund-raising from wealthy donors.

Raising money from smaller donors costs far more than drawing large contributions, according to people who work in the field. For each dollar raised from a small-dollar donor, a political party typically spends about 75 cents on mail, phone calls and other solicitations.

1. It's like I said before. Watch for the big $$ to go to the Blue Dogs.
That's where all the corporate action is--confining health care reform to tolerable limits, holding down wages, protecting NAFTA and keeping environmental legislation to a minimum, privatizing education--if those are your goals, the "centrists" are where the action is.

The corporations could give a shit about traditional Puggy hot-button items (God, guns, gays, abortions) except insofar as those issues helped them keep their grip on the snaggletoothed simpleton vote.
