Lynn Samuels on Serius left is unbelievable |
|
Last week during one of her Obama rants she took a call from a right winger who questioned his birth certificate and said he was not patriotic to America. She let the woman speak, never responded and thanked her for the call. How does a host allow a right wing attack to go unchallanged on a progressive channel? It's not like the caller citified Obama for being too centrist. Samuels can't get over the fact that Hillary lost. And Clinton would hardly be more leftist than Obama. I dint see why she is even on this station.

3. No, the OP has every right to be pissed when they are PAYING |
|
for the content and there is but ONE, ONLY ONE, progressive channel on satellite, whether XM or Sirius (yet multiple RW channels).

7. An often repeated lament. And why is that so? Does XM/Sirius have no clue about the audience? |
|
I am a long-time Sirius subsriber. I love it and would never be without it.
How many times have I listened to Air America? Four times.
The first was during the seemingly endless drive from St. Louis to Indianapolis. It was Al Franken's show, which was basically horrible except for his long discussion about his USO tour to Afghanistan or Kuwait or wherever. It was a fantastic piece. I tried it the next day, but it was back to the horrid left wing talking points. Twenty minutes and out. I tried Lynn Samuels twice for about 90 minutes each time. She was awful, so I tuned her out. Never going back.
I don't need to be spoonfed ideological dogma. I want news, facts, and intelligent analysis. Nothing more. Judging by the total failure of leftwing radio, I'd say most of those on the left are in full agreement with me.

8. When you subscribe to content, you have the right to petition |
|
Edited on Sun Jul-12-09 09:20 AM by hlthe2b
and to weigh in on that contact. It doesn't matter to you--great. But, that doesn't mean the OP does not have the right to express (and to lobby for) THEIR opinion. While you are pleased as it is, do you not think it a bit disingenuous to tell someone who is also paying to subscribe that THEY should just turn it off????
And, no, you can not conclude she remains on, because she has an audience. The programming choices with subscriber satellite are not ratings dependent. That is why weighing in with your opinions to the company IS an important thing to do.

9. Why does these arguments degrade so quickly to "freedom of expression"? |
|
I have no power to suppress the OP's ability to bitch. Clearly. But, if he/she wants to complain here, I have every right to push back. And I will continue to do so.
My original analysis stands: if you don't like the content, don't listen to the show.

for better programming.
Things never change for the better, if we all do as Buzz Click would advise (and simply change the channel).

2. I hate that all this crappy Sirius content has now moved to XM |
|
Alex Bennett is hardly better, yet he and other equally milquetoast (e.g., Bill Press) Sirius "left" talkers have now invaded XM167, displacing what once was decent content. If they had not left Thom Hartman, I would have no reason whatsoever to ever listen again. The damned merger sucks IMO.

But Air America around here on 1600 AM is mostly static. So It's Sirius left or Sirius 110 POTUS wich is boring most of the time. I love outlaw country 63 when not listening to talk.

5. You obviously haven't heard her much, have you? About half of each show is pure Obama hate. |
|
Been that way since the primaries.
Half her callers are redneck right wingers who only call in because she's an unabashed Obama hater on "left wing" radio.
She kind of toned it down a bit after the election but she's in full throated basher mode again. She actually kind of promotes the birther thing, when it comes up she'll say "where IS his birth certificate anyway"? and thinks conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones are just great.
She doesn't push the birther thing too hard, actively, though because she knows there really isn't anything to support it, but it's just another thing to "question" about Obama and it feeds into her fantasy (just like the right wingers) that somehow he will be forced to leave office other than through finishing two terms or being defeated in an election.
She's awful, basically.

I've never been able to stand that bitch. She's one reason I don't buy Sirius anymore.

11. Just one of the many reasons Sirius stock dropped to 5 cents a share |
|
I canceled them long ago but not before complaining over and over to them about their so called left-talk radio which was a joke. Lynn Samuels repeatedly says on her show how she hates the left and liberals. I ask them why she was taking up valuable air time on a left-talk channel. They purposely put nothing but crap on so people won't listen to it. They have tons of the right-wing talk that you can get all over the dial 24/7 for free. I thought the whole idea of satellite was to fill in niche markets with what you could not hear over the air free. When they canceled all their NHL coverage, which again I could not get over the air in my area, I canceled. They deserve to go bankrupt.

13. You are 1000% correct |
|
I do like the music channels and Air America has a crappy am signal so I am stuck with Sirius left. I only like Thom Hartman, Stefanie Miller and Mike Malloy. Ed Schultz is o.k., I like his focus on healthcare. Mark Thompson is boring. he talks too slowly and every show is about race relations. Alex Bennett is an ahole, I'll never get over his "joke" about the WTC 9/11 victims in the windows waving "because they wanted to be on tv". And there are at least three right wing stations compared to this one lame left wing channel. They advertise the gay station as being left wing also but it is hardly all political.

Edited on Sun Jul-12-09 10:09 AM by spartan61
voice, I quickly change the station. And Alex Bennett's program is nothing but juvenile. The only talk left programs I listen to on Sirius are Ed Shultz, Bill Press, and Thom Hartmann. Come on Sirius, get rid of Lynn Samuels and give that time slot to someone who really belongs on the talk left station. Samuels rightfully belongs on Faux News.
