Typical conservative/authoritarian thinking |

I've got some people I'm dealing with who act like that. They own the property next door. For reasons of the safety of their own property I've been encouraging them to either sell it or get some renters in to keep an eye on it (of course their last renters whom they claimed were "wonderful people" destroyed the place). So, when some damage occured to the property, where do they look? My family. My kids' balls would occasionally go over the fence, so they would go across to retrieve them and at the same time check on the property. In other words, they were supposed to be there. Hence the logic:
Damage occured in the back yard My kids were in the back yard Therefore, my kids did the damage
The problem is, there's a group home for troubled teenagers directly across the back alley from the property in question. The kids cut through yards to get from their to the convenience store down the street. My motion detector often goes off at odd hours of the night. I've got a low fence. My next door neighbour and I keep an eye on the yard. Next door has a high fence. I can't see into it. Neither can the so-called "witness".
Oh, here's another one. The damage consists of a hole in a wooden door that's pretty much rotten. It's about 3" wide by 1" deep, in other words, about the size and shape of a golf-club head.
Damage was about the size of a golf club head. My son owns golf clubs. Therefore, my son did the damage.
The damage is also about the size and shape of a boot heel, a baseball head, the rounded end of a crowbar...the list goes on.
