As of Sunday, 882 U.S. service members have died since the beginning of military operations in Iraq last year, according to the Defense Department. Of those, 654 died as a result of hostile action and 228 died of nonhostile causes. The department did not provide an update Sunday, but reported seven deaths over the weekend.
Since May 1, 2003, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended, 744 U.S. soldiers have died -- 545 as a result of hostile action and 199 of nonhostile causes.

Two soldiers were killed Sunday in a bomb attack in Samarra, Iraq, north of Baghdad
One soldier was killed Sunday in a bomb attack south of Mosul.
Four Marines were killed Saturday in Iraq's Anbar Province.
