6. It's better to have a diversified neighborhood

After all you don't want a drug war to run down the housing prices anymore or get your neighbors upset with you for stealing business away from them.

There should be at least one of each in every neighborhood for one stop shopping. A crack house, meth house, a place for marijuana, heroin, hookers, illegal gambling, etc.

Growing cannabis at home is now ubiquitous, both indoor and outdoor. It is actually legal to grow small crops now with a doctors recommendation. Depending on which county, the amount grown can even allow significant (possibly illegal and probably untaxed) earnings.

If Proposition 19 passes next month the home-growing of "pot" will soon be close to universal. Why not? Of course retail prices will probably be reduced somewhat and availability will undoubtedly skyrocket.

If/when marijuana is de-criminalized somewhat in the Golden State, the rest of the country won't be far behind, especially if significant revenues can be realized through taxation and savings realized by not enforcing the current prohibition.

Right now some of the few bright spots in the commercial real estate field are related to the growing and distribution of medical marijuana. Storefront dispensaries, warehouse space for growing "pot" and businesses selling supplies to marijuana growers are sprouting like weeds...

Some docs are earning a lot of cash also.

Due to the legal requirement for a doctor's recommendation letter, doctors are able to charge a nice fee for providing these. How many are written every year is hard to know as there is no registry or other way, besides guessing, to come up with even estimates. Thousands, hundreds of thousands, maybe a million or more California residents have acquired a recommendation letter, and the letter has to be re=written yearly for an additional fee.
