When I hear Republicans talk about "fixing" the economy/debt/deficit, two things come to my mind ...

Cowbells, and bloodletting ...

Cowbells - "Needs more cowbell!" - SNL classic skit about one man's obsession with focusing on the (superfluous) cowbell to the song "Don't Fear the Reaper"

Bloodletting - Another, truly classic SNL skit ... Steve Martin plays "Theodoric of York, Medieval Barber" during a time when barbers were the main healers of the times ... the solution to every medical problem is ... a good bleeding. Including the fact that the person was bleeding to death. The cure for bleeding to death? A good bleeding.

Tax cuts, because the government was facing a surplus ... tax cuts, because there might be a recession ... tax cuts, because there was a "recession" ...
