Michigan gained the most high-tech jobs of any state between 2009 and 2010, adding 2,700, according to a new report released this week.

The state experienced a 2 percent growth in high-tech jobs in that time period, the TechAmerica Foundation said in its 14th annual Cyberstates report.

"The fact that Michigan added more tech jobs in 2010 than any other state may surprise people — including people within the state," said Ed Longanecker, executive director and regional vice president of TechAmerica Midwest, in a statement. "But job gains in key sectors like software and research and development have helped the state recover from hard economic times."

Michigan is 15th in a ranking of states based on technology jobs, with 155,100 tech-industry employees in 2010, according to the Washington-based nonprofit foundation.
