Employees of the J.M. Real Estate Inc. office on Sarno Road in Melbourne showed up for work this morning to find a mysterious package.
The medium-sized box had no labels, workers weren’t expecting anything, so they called Melbourne police around 9:20 a.m.
Acting with an abundance of caution, police evacuated the office in the Melbourne Professional Complex at 1600 Sarno Road and called in the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad. The bomb squad sent in a robot to determine if the package was a threat.
When the robot opened the medium-sized box, investigators found a stack of FLORIDA TODAY fact book magazines, spokeswoman Jill Frederiksen said.
An employee told police that the office orders the books each year, but usually the delivery person delivers them by hand.
