Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - The NFTA says the suspicious package found Wednesday evening had all the earmarks of an improvised explosive device, but tests by the FBI have determined it was nothing.

NFTA Spokesman Doug Hartmayer says the employee who found the device used his training in contacting police. The device was the size of a soup can with wires and a timer. However, it turned out no one was in danger.

The FBI investigation continues into who placed it there and why.
