Westwood 'Suspicious Package' Found To Be Harmless
(CBS) LOS ANGELES A "suspicious package" was found Monday in the same Westwood-area neighborhood where an attempt was made to firebomb a car owned by a UCLA researcher, but the item turned out to be harmless.
A bomb squad was sent late Monday morning to Loring Avenue near Wyton Drive, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Karen Smith of the Media Relations office.
No explosives were found, and the area was declared safe by 12:15 p.m., said LAPD Officer April Harding.
On June 24, Arthur Rosenbaum's BMW was set on fire in front of his home at 465 Loring Ave., said Jerry Vlasak of The North American Animal Liberation Press Office, which criticized the researcher's "cruel" experiments.
