ROCHESTER, N.H. -- State health officials are investigating a case of respiratory tuberculosis that infected an employee of a local company.
Public Health Director Mary Ann Cooney said the patient works at gunmaker Thompson/Center Arms Co. She said there is no risk to the public and that health officials are interviewing co-workers to see if any should be tested.
Tuberculosis is an infectious, sometimes fatal disease most common in the lungs, but it can affect the central nervous system.
Cooney said employees who worked near the infected person or took breaks and ate lunch with the person probably would be looked at the closest.
