TIVERTON — School officials evacuated Tiverton High School yesterday after receiving a bomb threat.
A caller dialed the main office yesterday at about 11:30 a.m., saying that a bomb would detonate in the building at noon, the School Department said in a news release. Students were immediately evacuated to the football field, and the police and bomb-sniffing dogs searched the high school.
Police Chief Thomas Blakey said the police found no evidence of a bomb.
Students were released from school at 12:40 p.m., and all after-school activities were canceled. The building was declared safe at 3 p.m., the school district said.
