1.2 million gun background checks done in May. On target for 16.3 million in 2011 |
|
Edited on Fri Jun-10-11 09:11 PM by Logical
At least 1.2 million guns sold in May! Maybe more, because some background checks equal more than one gun sold. And many states do not require background checks for CCW license holders. This also does not count private sales that bypass the NICS system.
More armed Americans than ever and the crime and murder rate continues to fall!
And Illinois and Wisconsin are very close to passing their own CCW bills. This will allow citizens of those states to be able to defend themselves against criminals who will always find a way to obtain gun illegally!
Once us Democrats stop fighting this, the sooner the GOP and NRA can stop using it against us!

...and familiar with the store in question, I can tell you right now that Badger Guns is about as far removed from being representative of the vast majority of gun stores as you can possibly be. Every gun owner I talked to typically avoided Badger Guns because it was understood that they did a very poor job of making sure their guns didn't end up in the wrong hands. The place should have been shut down years ago IMHO.
Of course, I know none of this will mean anything to you, shares, but for those who retain their reasoning skills hopefully it will bring about some understanding of the situation.

6. The kind who recognizes that people being armed is a progressive value. |
|
Personal defense means that the strong can't bully the weak. Women don't have to walk down the street in fear that someone bigger and meaner will decide to rape them. The poor don't have to rely on the good faith of the police to protect them.
The contrary opinion, that people can't be trusted with the means to defend themselves? Your viewpoint? Extremely conservative at it's heart. The belief that "those people" aren't worthy or aren't smart enough to do the right thing, they need to be controlled.

all those armed people might as well be carrying steel clubs.
Granted, I would rather carry than not, but if people do not train with their gun, or learn how and when to draw and fire , being armed is of little value. Except to the arms manufacturers of course.

Private sales don't "bypass" the NICS system, they aren't allowed access to it

18. Actually, no it doesn't..... |
|
because the Kansas State Police constantly monitor and update the information regarding criminal cases against (or lack of same) against those with licenses, and actively revoke licenses for those convicted of disqualifying offenses, the CCW license is allowed to operate in lieu of a NICS check. IOW, the CCW license IS the background check.

the NICS system. Re-phasing it does not make you right.
I have no problem with private sales of guns or any other personally owned items.

22. I don't believe I've stated anything at all about private gun sales... |
|
perhaps you're talking to someone else?
There is no such thing as a "gun show loophole", private citizens are prevented by law from accessing or utilizing the NICS system, this is by the express intent of Congress. About half of my firearms were private seller purchases.....and they were among the best value purchases that I've (or my wife) has made. Where else is one going to get a West German manufactured, LNIB Sig P225 & LNIB Sig P228 for $500 for the pair?

17. Are we still blaming this on the Arizona shooting? |
|
Is it the election of Obama? Are just the same 200 people buying all these guns?
Or the reality that more people than the decades before are interested in owning a gun. The guy at the academy gun section told me that most of his customers are people that have never owned a gun before and he felt the need to go over gun safety with.
