New to this forum. Need advice, please. |
|
I was given a handgun by my dad years ago. Other than registering it with base security when I was in the Navy, I don't believe it's registered. I live in Virginia. Does anyone know what I have to do to get the gun registered? Also, does Va. have open or concealed carry laws? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

http://www.vsp.state.va.us/Firearms_ResidentConcealed.shtmThat is a link the Virginia State Police. They are likely to be better informed and better able to answer your questions the some ex-pat in Italy.

Don't know exact process to get one but easy google. I know it's the usual training and it's shall issue, so unless you have a criminal record/insanity record they will give you one.
Above assumes you are 21+

6. Also, check any answer you get from the S.P..... |

against www.handgunlaw.us
Very often, the police are not very knowledgeable about firearms laws.
And to start with, there is no registration in Virginia.

I was born and raised here, spent 22yrs in Navy, finally moved back home after 42 years wandering in the wilderness. So glad to be back in the mountains!

Open Carry.org http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/forum.phpScroll down to your particular state section; the Virginia forum is very active on that site, and there's a lot of information you'll probably find useful there.
