A. G. Holder to be issued a subpeona in "Fast & Furious" gun-running scandal. |
|
"The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is planning to subpoena Attorney General Eric Holder this week to determine who in the Justice Department knew about "Operation Fast and Furious" -- the plan to let thousands of guns sold in the U.S. get into Mexican drug cartel hands -- and when they knew it." http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/10/09/new-subpoenas-prepared-in-fast-and-furious-probe/What is unclear is whether or not House Oversight will issue similar subpoena to those involved with earlier ATF efforts during the George W. Bush administrations, as referenced by struggle4progress: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=118x466158

2. To open up the investigation for the Bush years presents problems... |
|
to the Obama Administration: It would legitimize the whole process, something the GOP would gladly accede to, IMO. Pretty much for the same reason you stated, and esp. because Bush 2 is damaged goods anyway. On the other hand, if MSM (beyond CBS, L A Times and a few others) picks up on this, the story should crack open, then Obama could say: 'Yeah, it's a mess, but we were just carrying on stuff from guess who, and nobody objected then.'
And no one did.

3. Running drugs and arms was put into the system long ago by Poppy Bush and his GOP enablers |

Plus, a few powerful Dems who allowed the whole tactic to continue. It's a STANDARD practice now, and the GOP knows it because THEY are the ones who protested the scrutiny of those operations during both Bush reigns

4. Holder may end up having to fall on his sword over this one. |
|
If so I hope they do it soon and tie it off long before the campaign season gets into swing. This is exactly the sort of shit we don't need.

8. But is he willing to fall on his sword? I know this is mixing metaphors, but |
|
Holder may refuse to stay under the bus. He has been a close confidant of the president for a long time. Any accusations he might make against his own party would be taken seriously, regardless of their veracity.
