Multi-state thread...what's required in your state to vote? |
|
I'm astounded that you have to have a registration card or ID to vote.
Here's the rules in California. Anyone can register voters. We pass out registration forms at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You are required to register anyone who asks, though.
You just sign your name when you vote. There is no ID required. We can vote early and by permanent absentee. If you lose your absentee ballot, you can then go to the poll and vote by provisional ballot.

1. Here in MN it's an ID, a utility bill with current address, or someone who |
|
can vouch for you living in the right district or whatever... We do have motor-voter option for registration, and you can also just show up on the day of election and register at the polling place.

We do vote-by-mail in Oregon. You don't even really need a stamp, if you want to drop it off somewhere like the county elections office.

3. Register up to & including election day, bring id & proof of residence, |
|
(utility bill). When you vote, no id, no nothing, just say your name. I'm in NH, one weird state.

in Vermont. Drive down to the elementary school, pick up a paper ballot and pencil, mark with an x, and stuff it in the box. No I.D. needed.
