My heart breaks for Biden supporters... |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-03-08 11:22 PM by BringBigDogBack
It is a great shame he did not receive more attention than he did. He had so much to offer our country as a candidate.
Best wishes to a great group of supporters, and an outstanding candidate. This race will not be the same without Joe Biden.
I already miss him.

Congrats to Obama. :hi:

|
he could hypothetically have had 14%-plus in the first round but those votes are not recorded and never reported. That's why the final tally is so stratified. The ones who started out "viable" bled off most of the support of the rest in the second round.
Biden was lots of people's second choice, but they were viable, so it didn't matter. Richardson was a lot of Biden and Dodd supporters' second choice.

The MSM told us who the three front runners would be, ignored everyone else, and, gee whiz, guess who the three winners were. I feel like there is no chance for a candidate that doesn't serve the media's need for advertising dollars and drama.
But, thank you for your kind words!

were given enough press. It isn't fair and I agree that the media has a lot to do with how the wind blows. Even though my candidate got a lot of attention, I was incensed over the lack of coverage for our wonderful democratic candidates. I love them all, even Gravel. What a character. They all made our dem debates worth watching. Wonderful guys.

but I had finally settled on Biden as my #2 guy. Somehow I knew this would happen, but I had been hoping for a shocking result. My dream is still for Hillary, Obama and Edwards to be deadlocked going into Denver and for Al to come in on his white horse, but I'm being realistic and going with Edwards down the stretch.

33. Biden had been one of my faves, until that bankruptcy bill he supported |
|
That bill was an atrocity-- it makes it doubly difficult for beleaguered Americans, seeking Chapter 11 protection due to medical bills (since we don't have basic health insurance) or injuries, to protect themselves and their finances. And it gives carte blanche to banks to charge usurious interest rates to consumers, and for corporations that f*@! up to declare bankruptcy and screw over consumers. Biden even blocked an amendment that would have given assistance to Americans with medical problems to get protection-- Hillary to her credit, despite her arrogance on this issue on other fronts, did support that amendment.
It's a shame, b/c Biden in other ways is among our most appealing candidates. He has experience, and on foreign policy he's unmatched. But he lost my vote and I'm sure that of millions of other Democrats with that arrogant, corporate a**-kissing bankruptcy bill. You reap what you sow, and with the bankruptcy bill, Biden reaped the whirlwind. It's similar to the way Hillary's support of the H1B visa is hitting her very hard-- when you support big, powerful corporations against Americans on the ground who already have it tough, the country rejects you, and that's happened to Biden, otherwise a very smart candidate.

Once I realized Big Al just wasn't going to run, I went to Dodd and then to Biden, although I would have been happy with either of them. I'm sorry they're both out of it, but I know they'll still play an important role in the future of the country.
Now I'm firmly in the Edwards camp.
