So CWO Members won't be able to Caucus? |
|
What is all this talk of supressing votes and hotel workers not being able to vote?

hacks file a lawsuit to take away their at large precincts two days later so they can't vote. Voter suppression of low income people ...just wonderful, isn't it?

4. Oh, they will be able to vote |
|
but for some, it might be much more difficult. No polling stations inside casinos (attempt to suppress the vote of the culinary workers). Lawsuit filed by Teachers union (leaning to Hillary) AFTER culinary workers endorsed Obama.
And it is a big deal. A lot of these folks work long shifts at the casinos, and taking a two hour break (to drive to a polling location, wait in line, vote, drive back to work) may be very hard (if you've ever driven the Vegas strip or near it, you will know what this means).
It's a very ugly thing to do.

5. The director of the Teachers Union Endorsed Hillary |

A whole lot more than leaning. And Bilbray's law firm, who also endorsed Hillary, is handling the law suit.

So has anyone found out whether or not the voter supression has worked?

We won't know what will happen until it goes to court, as far as I know.

8. Will it even get a hearing before the primary? |
|
And is there a current stay (which prevent poll workers from setting up the polling locations at the locations previously agreed to, including casinos)?
Not much time, and even if it is thrown out, the objective of creating confusion for these workers (where do I vote? What will be the times that the polls are open? What the hell is going on?) is already done.
And if Hillary didn't want it to happen, all she had to do was place one phone call.

9. Not 'wait in line, vote'. |
|
They're caucuses. Apparently--I've no personal experience with a caucus--the process can be a bit lengthier than standing in line and voting.
And I'm torn. I browsed the brief; I have no moral arguments against their argument, except to say that I think I dislike caucuses in practice.

A Caucus takes a good amount of time and everyone that wants to be counted has to be there for the entire event. No way a kitchen worker is going to be able to take a long enough break to get to the caucus and be counted and then return to work. It will be difficult enough if they are working on that day to even show up for the required amount of time in the same building where they work (casinos being what they are).
Caucuses are a bad idea in the day and age of 24 x 7... and Vegas is the original 24 x 7 town.

Dirty, nasty GOP-style politics.
