When you use the phrase "race card" you are |
|
parroting a right wing meme. It was constructed by the same wingnuts who thought up the "Southern Strategy". It was disigned to do one thing: belittle real racial grievances. If you feel Obama or his supporters are unfairly using race, there are lots of ways to say it without using such a loaded phrase.

that it started to be used about that time. In any case, are denying that it's a right wing term intended to diminish real grievances?

10. All the right wing has left is BS catchphrases to diminish real grievances and perpetuate |
|
the myth that "(WASP) Father Knows Best". Once that myth is gone, so is the right wing's power.
Nothing to really get upset about, now that you've called it out for what it is.

14. Yes I agree it is used to diminish a claim of racism |
|
and to do so by avoiding actually evaluating the merits of the claim.

3. It acheived national dog-whistle prominence, though, after the OJ trial |
|
Remember the line inexplicably uttered by Robert Shapiro, about Johnnie Cochran's successful defense: "He didn't just play the race card, he dealt it from the bottom of the deck?"
Terrified white men have been blowing the racist dogwhistle ever since.

6. It depends. If someone says something openly |
|
racist, that's not so far off base. And if you're saying I said that, you should provide links.
Seeing as you posted an offensive thread about Obama's "shuck and jive" supporters, that was nothing but base flamebait, you really should hop off that high horse- before it bucks you off.

issue joint statements that they are not going to allow the media to drag them into the "race card" game because neither Clinton or Obama play that game.
They both have been very instrumental in doing everything they can for all concerned. The media is the one here trying to make this an issue which will only hurt Clinton & Obama's campaigns both if they let it happen.
If the media wants to look into the race card game, dive more into the republican campaigns.

15. Because it has already been answered and addressed by the campaign |
|
and it just keeps going on and the media is having a field day with the two camps continuing on with it.
Maybe he directly has not addressed some of it but his campaign has fired back at Clinton so in effect both camps are addressing it which is why this fight is continuing on.

Sometimes I accuse people of being prejudiced against Sicilians to get them to shut up about something, or at least to give me the upper hand in an argument.
