Clinton's bill with Obama as co-sponsor? |
|
On Tuesday's debate Hillary Clinton asked Barack Obama if he would co-sponsor some legislation that she was authoring. What was that about? I didn't see anything in any of the next day's post debate summaries. I thought that it was a weird stunt to try and pull off on national television.
What does DU think?

2. I don't even remember what it was supposed to be about. I just remember thinking, when she said it, |

that that was a pretty heavy-handed way to pat herself on the back, asking him to tag along and co-sponsor something he had no time to think about, which would have her name on it as the author.
It was a "Have you stopped beating your wife" kind of moment.

3. That's totally how I felt |

If they really wanted she really wanted to blow me away with her bipartisanship they should have crafted something behind the scenes and announced it at the next debate. To me it came off as an obvious stunt to make us forget about the MLK comments.

7. I think I was at 275 before the New Hampshire primaries |

at this rate I reckon that I'll be at the 1000+ level by Super Tuesday. Needless to say, I haven't gotten a lot of work done at the office these last few weeks.

8. I thought it was pure stagecraft as well |

I thought Obama recognized it for what it was. He responded in a masterful way. She expected him to feel cornered since the question was asked in the public eye. How could he possibly decline? Obama did not agree, instead choosing his words carefully. This is something we can work together on, he said. "Working together on" is in no way an agreement to co-sponsor.
This maneuver was a simple gimmick to show Hillary's mastery over the situation, resulting in Obama's obsequiousness. Foiled it he did.
Tricks are for kids.

10. Does it seem like the MSM hasn't talked about this? |

I haven't been able to find any analysis on this.
