John McCain Is An Old Seventy One |
|
Edited on Sat Feb-02-08 12:04 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
You can be an "old forty" or "old fifty" so it's not my point to pick on him for being old... When I was in DC back in 1990 my then seventy two year old mom and I walked from Arlington National Cemetery to the White House in the July heat...
McCain just looks old...Reagan was about that age when he became president but he was robust looking even without the hair dye...McCain just looks old...

1. Too old. Watched him in debates, he rambles and mutters and repeats himself-- |
|
I was brought to mind of my nurse's aide days, frankly--humoring the residents and wheeling them into the dayroom to watch the soaps.

8. That'll never happen. Old as he may be, John would NEVER |
|
pick another Bush! I also believe Jeb is smarter than that! He knows his brother screwed things up for him for a long time!

7. I Don't Want To Pick On Him |
|
Ageism is just as bad as any other prejudice...
He just looks enervated... I don't usually agree with the MSM but this is one observation they make that I share...
He also is very surly in the debates... He can't even hide his contempt for Romney...

9. I Am Trying To Avoid The Rancor |
|
If I post I will ignore (all) the bashing threads even the threads that bash my canidate because then I start bashing the person who bashed my candidate and it descends from there...
Life's too short...
BTW, where do you live and did you vote?

6. The Neo-CONS will pick the VP, they are betting.... |
|
that McCain does not live out his term. Mccain has or will sell the VP slot to the Neo-CONS for their support. You can take that bit of reality to Vegas and make money on it!

11. My father-in-law is 67 and runs 6 or 7 miles every day |
|
That how I hope to be when nearing my 70s. I have seen some older people who have the health and bodies of 40-somethings, and it shows in their "step" and on their faces - even with silver hair. You'll find these people at the gym usually. Must be a connection...you think? The FIL swears he stays lean because he eats a little dark chocolate every day. I'm all for that!

12. We know what it feels like to be as old as McCain because we are. |
|
I'm 17 months older, husband is a 13 months younger. You don't necessarily feel old but both your body and your mirror say you are. You get tired easier than you once did. You have more aches and pains. You need more rest. Your mind isn't as sharp as it once was - you'll write "two" when you meant to spell it "too". Your reflexes are slower - you don't react as quickly as you once did, partly because the muscles don't move as quickly but mostly because it takes longer to realize you need to react. Husband says it best: "I think I'm the man I used to be until I try to do the things I used to do." So - in the opinion of two people who have been there, done that, McCain is too old.

13. I'm not much younger than McCain but, even with my aches and |
|
pains, I think I could run circles around McCain. He looks and speaks as if he is just too tired to go on with this campaign. A person who has to pause every few words to conjure up the next few does not qualify to be president. A few years ago, maybe. His age shows and he will look and sound worse as this campaign progresses. Advil might help with the aches and pains but won't do anything for mental capacity.

14. As long as he wins primaries, it really does not matter what |
|
we think about his age.
IMO, the voters behind him are saying we want experience, competence and someone who understands government. We have had the Harvard MBA and Likeable President and look where it landed us. His age is probably seen as a plus by these voters.
Just some thoughts---after watching him rise from the dead.
