Hillary's caustic screaming will get her no where |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 06:52 AM by TheDonkey
Just watched Meet the Press and saw the "negative mode" Hillary and it was awful. She was at a press conference shrieking into the microphone "SHAME ON YOU BARACK OBAMA!" then they cut to a rally "FOOL ME ONCE!!!" it was completely unflattering and actually hurt my ears.
What does she think she is doing? Is this going to motivate people, excite people, get people united to vote for her and build the party??? The answer seems like a resounding no but I guess we will see March 4th.
I do not know if I can put much faith in supporting her if she tries to run a general election campaign like that either. It is very grating and unmotivating. Yikes.

The sexist attacks on Hillary are abusive. Men, well, scientific documentation supports my statement. Men can have an erection every hour and/or if functionally impaired, have the arousal scent triggered in their thoughts.

It's a simple fact that many mothers, teachers and wives do a lot of lecturing. Some women would also have uncomfortable feelings about a male candidate who came across as bossy or demanding because of associations with fathers, teachers, bosses or husbands.

Hillary's is the "voice of civilization." NPR did a piece this weekend on the tenor of voices and said that about her, after playing part of a stump speech. Obama sounds like a preacher, according to the guest, and McCain's voice sounds old.

A friend of mine who has been in town for a few days mentioned that when Hillary is in angry mode he's mentally transported back to his first marriage, which had his wife at the time sounding very similar to what Hillary sounds like.

Once again we see the demonization of a woman when she expresses anger and passion. How was her behavior "unflattering"? Unflattering to whom? Was her anger unjustified? Would Obama not also have a right to be angry if Clinton was actively misrepresenting Obama's policies? Would you demonize him in the same way if he expressed anger in the same circumstances? Would you refer to his behavior as "unflattering"? Think about it.

So far I have not seen anything like what Hillary has been doing match up to what Obama has been doing. Do you have any clips?
It is not sexist, it is the truth. Please stop trying to hide behind the sex card and listen to some of the toxic words coming from her mouth. It is bad for this campaign and bad for America.
I was not happy when Obama got into that "just words" rant that was ripped from Patrick because he was acting like a bully too so it does go both ways but even then he was shouting "JUST WORDS HILLARY CLINTON!!!" or going over the top like she has been.

People in 2004 bashed Kerry for his voice and it was declared "sexist".
I've seen many women debate and not come across as so caustic and unhinged. The mocking, the yelling, the posturing is NOT presidential at all. It looks like something out of Saturday Night Live.

Hillary Clinton like everyone else is a human being. Human beings get angry, they express outrage, they argue. This is normal behavior. Why is the president of the USA not allowed to show such emotion? That's what I don't understand. Her willingness to display emotion is one of the reasons she attacts me and draws me in. In contrast, I don't feel that with Obama. I don't connect with him. I don't see his struggle expressed in a way that I can relate to. When Hillary get's angry, I am like "yeah, I know how you feel".

10. Screaming didn't go over well for Howard Dean either. |
|
And IMO, his scream was a positive thing taken completely out of context by the media. It was a cheer to inspire his supporters. But the point is, the perception was that of his being somewhat unraveled and it hurt him.
Hillary's screaming, on the other hand, was not positive. She likened her Democratic opponent's campaign to that of to Karl Rove.
There is a huge difference between running a tough campaign and going off on your opponent. Hillary Clinton blew it. After she loses the nomination, she's going to see that clip of her played over and over and over. And frankly, she deserves it.
Nice legacy, Senator Clinton.

I've been saying this for the past day and a half. The media ruined Dean for screaming over an enthusiastic crowd, yet somehow criticizing HRC for going off on an angry tirade is somehow sexist. I don't blame her for being frustrated, but I think her ranting made her look unpresidential and unappealing. It almost feels like she is lashing out because she is resentful of Obama for getting in the way of what she feels is rightfully her turn to be the nominee. It's hard to blame her for that, since she has spent years preparing for this and Obama came out of nowhere. I guess it would be the way someone would feel if they worked hard at a company for a few years, kissed all the right asses, made the right connections, and then got passed over for a promotion by someone six months out of college. She has the right to be resentful, although of course, if the presidency were a job you applied for with a resume, Bill Richardson or Joe Biden or Chris Dodd would probably be our nominee.

Honestly, I've never seen him lose his cool in public, and I've watch a lot of his speeches online and on teevee. It points to him being more likely to remain calm and cool during a crisis.

If Obama was saying the same thing that Hillary was doing in this negative offensive people would be going crazy calling him "angry" a "bully" etc etc. Don't try to say it is sexist that some people are calling her out on that raving and unhinged tactics.
Howard Dean was also criticized for being "angry" and whether America was ready for an "angry" president blah blah blah. Now we have a new angry candidate and people are not allowed to mention it. She needs to stop.

As if! Everyone mentions it. There are no barriers to critiqing Clinton. She's fair game in all respects and always has been. The issue here is:
1. the language used to describe her behavior - often the language is sexist, mysogynst in nature 2. the assumption that anger is a BAD thing - anger is what gets people to ACT - it depends what you believe - some say they are mobilized into action because "they saw the light" (hope theory) while others say there are mobilized to act because "they feel the heat") (anger/fear theory). Who is to say which is better?

... through the heart of the vestiges of her campaign.
She figures she's got nothing to lose and she's right. What she will figure out soon is that she's got nothing to gain either. Most people will be turned off by her phony-assed "shame on you" nonsense. It's ridiculous, and I'd bet any amount that the campaign materials she's complaining about are as accurate as her characterizations of Obama's positions.
I can't WAIT until March 4.
