I just got home, and spent the early evening working and depressed as my friends texted me the early IN returns. But it's getting better all the time!

That last big bump was a set of precincts in Marion County: he picked up 5,000 votes in that batch (from 47,000 behind to 42,000 behind)

58. That's a very interesting result. |
|
That is the most upscale area in Indiana. Very Republican. I guess this just confirms that Obama does well with the best educated people. Surely there were some Republicans in Hamilton who took part in Operation Chaos. Maybe 1000 or 2000 of Clinton's votes. So realistically, Obama probably got 65% of the legitimate voters in Hamilton County, and there are surely fewer than 5% African-Americans in that county.

I'd love for Obama to pull it out, but I'll settle for the massacre in NC.

51. Obama will pick up 5000 more in the college counties |
|
The media is focused on Gary, but Bloomington (IU) and Lafayette (Purdue) are only half reported. Obama has taken those counties by a landslide. If those numbers hold up, those two counties will close the gap by about 5,00. I'm guessing the Lake County closes it another 25,000, so it could end up 51-49.
Clinton is risking making a fool of herself by giving a victory speech when there is a very good chance this could go slightly for Obama.
But she figures she has nothing to lose.
