This is a pretty bad speech from Clinton. |

I think she's going to look back on it eventually and wish she hadn't given it.
The crowd sucks, too.

128. God, I'm getting Karen Hughes flashbacks tonight... |
|
McAuliff is Hillary's Karen Hughes, and her campaign is as clueless and lying as Bush Jr's was.
No matter what Bush did, no batter how bad he fucked it up, Karen Hughes would always cackle "He hit a HOME RUN!"
The rest of his campaign was just as bad.
I think I'm going to go take a shower. Suddenly I feel defiled.

Does she think she's endearing herself to anyone in Congress with this crap? Apparently she isn't concerned with torching bridges in case of a return to the Senate.

2209 delegates needed. Seat FL/MI. I am waiting for the money pitch, should be any moment now.
This is beyond embarassing. And I thought this was supposed to be the "speech to end all speeches" - when does that start? Or is she thinking about this victory she gained with the help of her white voters like me and won't vote blacks, and feeling how history will regard this? So I agree that not only will she regret this someday, she may already be regretting it.
She is to do her final pitch to those with $$ tomorrow, and if she doesn't get $$$, she won't make her payroll Thursday. And she has not one realistic argument to put forward as to why they should risk their own money at this juncture. I think she knows this - and this flat speech convinces me she understands what is coming next Tuesday in Oregon.
God, 2209 delegates - I will never forget that coming right out of her mouth.

I am getting the impression from watching her that she knows this is the last crowd she will ever see at a victory speech, and the last substantial victory she will witness in her campaign. It is like she is speaking in a very measured way, stretching out this moment.
And neither she nor the crowd are in any way "electric". Kind of a strange vibe coming from this, which after the huge buildup of her speech, is going to leave many disappointed in her performance. And someone correct me if I am wrong, but of all people, she first mentions Byrd? Isn't he that senator that used to be a KKK guy way back in the old days?

I hate her delivery, I really do. She has a bit of the same talking down to the audience tick that Bush has. And while just the idea of Bush talking down to me was patently absurd, this is still irritating. I'm not slow, Hillary.
And she just doesn't have the knack for delivering that human interest story. It comes across as obvious - like it should have crawl lines over it: "Touching story about dying old woman"
She just never reads as genuine to me. Too bad.

122. She should have attacked Obama |
|
I understand that Hillary wants to take the high road now but it just doesn't suit her well. Her campaign did her a disservice by telling her to take such a subdued tone during this speech. Where was the fighter in the PA speech that we saw? The people who love the fighter in her also love to see her stick it to the party bosses and superdelegates, telling them to shove it where the sun don't shine. Fact remains that she's better at politically attacking than she is at taking the high road, and this speech doesn't highlight her strengths.
