So, er...did anyone hear about a comment suggesting a possible assassination of Obama? |
|
Or is there already a thread on it?

2. There's already a thread on it |
|
In fact, it's at the top of the front page as I write this.

There was a reference to Bobby Kennedy's assassination because he was still running in the June primary when he was assassinated. It was an unfortunate reference, but to interpret it as a threat on Obama's life is a bit of a stretch.

7. I don't interpret it as a threat. It was a dogwhistle. |
|
She is reminding people of the possibility of Barack being assassinated, to suggest that she'd be a safer choice.

8. I actually thought it might be a dig at Ted Kennedy, if that. |
|
Kennedy tanked her campaign and she can't be too happy about that.
But it's possible that she brought up assassination for the reason you suggest. I'd feel badly about it except that every single time she or her husband say anything, they are accused of racism, even when their statements are not racist or even anti-Obama. (To talk about a white working class is perfectly legitimate when discussing the demographics of the electorate, but to some here at DU (and in the media) this identification of a white demographic is racist. Go figure.)

9. You'd have a point about the white working class thing if: |
|
There were regular references to the "black working class" or "Hispanic working people" and what have you. The implication is that only white people work, which is absurd and offensive. I don't blame the Clintons for that because many other people use that meme, but the concept is kind of racist if you think about it.
