Poll question: If the Clintons were personal friends, what would you do if you were a superdelegate? |
|
Edited on Fri May-30-08 08:56 AM by Onlooker
I live in Cambridge, MA and went out to eat last night to a low-price ordinary restaurant. At the booth behind me were two women who looked and sounded well connected. One of them said several things that led me to to believe she was daughter of a nationally known politician, retired. I'm not saying more out of respect to her privacy. She was firmly in the Obama camp and talked quite loudly.
She said that in her circles (which were Kennedyesque), there's a feeling that the Clintons have a lot of superdelegates "parked." These are, for instance, people who got their jobs in the Democratic Party through the Clintons or who are personal friends of the Clintons. They feel a deep sense of loyalty.
If the Clintons were your personal friends, what would you do if you were a superdelegate?

1. This is why she had so many SD's before one vote was cast...very few of those people are not moving, |

They were put in their jobs by the Clintons... and look how the Clintons do treat them when they go to Obama

4. All the SDs who REALLY support her have already come out .. |

The Clintonistas who haven't declared probably WANT to be for Obama but aren't going to admit it until the very last minute, out of fear of retribution from HRC's campaign. I don't see why any SDs would wait until THIS late to move toward her, when her numbers are on life support ...

6. I find these results so far rather sad |
|
If a friend of mine was running for President, I'd back that friend unless his/her views were far more extreme than either Clinton's or Obama's.

7. Superdelegates who are endorsing because of personal loyalty endorsed months ago. |
|
There are a lot of those, but they aren't parked. The Clinton campaign has been heavily pressuring superdelegates. If they were for Clinton, they would have come out for her already.
Those that didn't were either looking for someone else or waiting to see which way the wind ended up blowing. Very few of those who haven't endorsed will go against the pledged delegate winner.

8. I will always admire and be grateful for the Clintons. But my vote belongs to the best candidate. |
|
The Progressive Movement tried to limit the power of political cronyism and bossism 100 years ago. I may be grateful to the Clintons, but I could never be their fief.
