I think Obama is a politician who will do what politicians do. That is, do what is necessary to achieve and retain power.
However, I also think that Obama will try to move away from the DLC politics of winning by appealing to the right because the policies of the right are abject failures.
Thus, I think, that he will try to move left because the tide is beginning to turn that way, or at least, the tide is rejecting the right.
I doubt that he will, personally, pose any real threat to the corrupt system now in power, but (admittedly a big but) he may set in motion a movement in that direction simply by not rejecting the left automatically.
Something the Clintons have done throughout their political career.

for me to make. I was torn by trying to figure out which candidate would best be able to eat the Pub! Each of our candidates has positives & negatives. I was so very afraid Barack was trying to run such an honest and above board campaign, he would NOT "fight back the very mean & nasty" Pub attacks hard enough to beat them. Hillary wouldn't have THAT problem, but I was afraid memories of Bill would harm HER too much to win.
I will proudly vote for whoever our winner is!

74. Since 2002 I have consistently declared that I will never vote for Hillary Clinton for president. |
|
Edited on Fri May-30-08 08:50 PM by scarletwoman
I have not changed my mind, nor do I expect to.
It has confounded me why ANY "progressive" would want to return the DLC/Third Way/New Democrats to power. To me it absolutely defies logic. It leaves me aghast and in despair.
I'm serious. I literally weep for the naivite of all the good "liberals" who are so misinformed, uninformed, malinformed, and so lacking in analytical skills and historical perspective as to seriously contemplate for even a moment the delusion that putting Hillary Clinton in the White House would be anything but than an unmitigated disaster for an actual progressive re-alignment of our party and our government.
When I see Hillary supporters mock Obama supporters for being "kool-aid drinkers" or "cultists", it just makes me wonder what special kind of blindness and cognitive dissonnence it takes to ignore the clear evidence of the globalist/neo-liberal/imperialist/militarist agenda that the Clintons serve.
I'll be blunt, seeing liberals support the Clintons drives me to madness. It makes no sense to me, and it feels like a massive betrayal of everything we've fighting for all these years.
No, I won't vote for Clinton. And I honestly can't imagine why anyone would. I'll forgive those who foisted her on us in their ignorance, but I will never tell them it was okay.
Peace, sw

The only way for her to be the nominee in November NOW is if this is stolen from Obama, and the idea of democracy subverted. I will not support that, and I think it sets a dangerous precedent. And please spare me the fearmongering about what McCain will do. Hillary has proven she is capable of lying and using the worst kind of electoral fraud and math manipulation to have her way no matter what. THAT is a dangereous person to have on the top spot. Had she won the process I would, while holding my nose.
Also spare me the party loyalty crap. Truth is the US is a country of 300 million people. Do you really think that 300 million people can be evenly divided into two camps, with 150 million people having the same ideologies and positions, in opposition to the other 150? The democratic party is not some noble family ot group to unite together because we all have the same values and ideas, it is part of a two-party system, there because the political realities and constitution make that system the only viable one, and includes people of all types of ideologies views and believes. There is nothing to 'unite' us, or make us be 'loyal' to 'the party', other than the political reality that the other guys are worse.

I had damn near forgiven her about a month ago. But she has really out done just about every bad politician I ever remember this month. If I would, it would be only to sa y big "fuck you" to the RW media. Then maybe we sell out and pack up and move to Canadia.

|
The Rapture is pretty much Hillary's best chance of winning the nomination.

As tempting as it would be not to, too many people will be harmed by 4 more years of Republican rule. This isn't a game...people's lives are at stake here.
