I have noticed something recently - - Rightwing talking heads are scared of Obama |
|
Edited on Fri May-30-08 09:52 PM by rhombus
I do listen to talk radio a lot here in GOP red country, so I get to see which direction the wind is blowing.
Take note- Republicans and particularly the Right-wing talk radio bunch made up of Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, Bennett, Beck, Hewitt, Boortz, Gallagher, Savage, are getting scared of Obama. Something has happened very recently. Deep down, they feared the Clintons so much. And now here comes this guy out of nowhere who has taken apart the much vaunted "Clinton Machine". Oops.
When they mention Obama in their shows, you can sense a level of frustration and fear in how to "attack" him. It is like being told to scoop water in your hands and not to let a drop fall off. Well, you know that's impossible. That's the situation the Right-wing echo chamber finds itself in. Man, they are scared.
And once Barack Obama has the full Democratic Party apparatus behind him, watch out!

1. They spent 15 years whipping up Clinton hatred |
|
and they thought a new fresh bunch of Clinton fund raising scandals would get them by this time. Then Clinton proved to be a less than capable campaigner and it turned out their 15 years of cheerleading was wasted. They can't change course rapidly and it takes a long time for their moran followers to adjust to the new talking points. They are really afraid they won't be able to get anything to stick to Obama in the short time they have left. They realize Obama is adept at deflecting these kind of smears.
Plus they have just a piss poor sorry laughable Bob Dole type candidate themselves and they know it.

as the best they had to run against Hillary. I expect that this is correct, even though Hillary would likely have beat him. He was never their best choice to run against Barack. Mitt Romney, a bit younger and a bit more of an "outsider" would have been a better choice for that task. Still a loser, but a bit stronger.
you are correct, they have been prepping the ground to defeat Hillary in the "minds" of their listeners for a decade. Shifting fields is not their strong suit and Barack is a bit used to hardball politics. Better yet, the best they have been able to come up with for dirt is Dr. Wright, and that dog won't hunt. There is just not enough meat for them to work with, and given the mood of the country, they would need something enormous. They are pretty sure that they do not have it.
Excellent head fake.

Every time I think of McCain, what inevitably comes to mind is Perot's hapless VP running mate.
But as is frequently reminded here on DU, don't even THINK of slacking off until the winner is finally certified! I really believe that ONLY a winning margin of >5% would be too large to steal. The other side will not only be fighting for "political survival", but to stay out of jail! This Nation has never seen such a vicious and unprincipled gang as this.

36. But, man, wait till Jan 21, when Obama changes the rug in the oval office. |

Every move he makes will be hysterically challenged and whined about. Get ready for 8 years of blue dresses, if any can be found. I believe Obama will be completely clean, but there are swiftboat liars out there...

2. All they've got is "scandals" about what OTHER people have said... |
|
Wright Ayers Michelle Pfleger
etc...
NOTHING about Obama himself. Nothing he has ever said or done.
It has them scared shitless. They have no direct attacks on him. Their only hope is to tie OTHER people and THEIR "gaffes" or comments to him.
That won't work.
...and they know it.

they love their sheeple that buy their talking points w/o question but those of us who want to see the facts and not spin and are tired of pretty word pictures while there is a nationwide meltdown due to government ineptitude, well that's something else, something they fear. I just saw tonight on my state circle program that Maryland is going to spend $800,000 to integrate our troops coming back from Iraq. Mr. Adkins was on State Circle, he heads VA affairs in Maryland, said that the feds are supposed to do it but...connect the dots, he also said that there are 1.5 million people who have served in Iraq with 750,000 now home and that all National Guard who have served multiple tours get no mental health care, something that Maryland will now help with.

going on in this country that makes this election unlike any other. I know people refer to past elections and say things like..'this is nothing, you should have seen whatever'..but this is something, for those of us who are being affected today, and are worried about our future. In a way the Bush Administration has done us a tremendous favor by being such an educational tool, in what bad government is. And that is what the GOP has to run away from. Who they are, and what they have done.

they have either eliminated or weakened legislation affecting them or they have put a corporate toadie in to run a government agency like the EPA, the government exists for the common good which they have subverted for their own corporate profit.

I am happy to know I have contributed to their fear by supporting the Dem candidate. After eight years of them shitting on this country with their fear mongering it is time the tables have turned. The people are coming and we picked a mighty candidate to speak for us.

with some unknown like Obama clinching the nomination.
They assumed, as did Hillary, that with her big fat war chest, billions of favors lined up, name brand recognition, and a former prez in their corner that she would be the nominee, and by Super Tuesday it would be completely in the bag. At least they placed all their bets on it - she has been vetted, and come up short over the years. They probably had commercials done already, talking points outlined of scandal after scandal. She has more ammo to be pointed her way then a pony has poop - imagine their glee at having this bounty at their disposal to toss at her repeatedly.
And then this unknown dude comes out of left field, blows the Clinton apparatus off the map, plays by the rules of delegate math as outlined by the DNC like a chess master, learns on the job to be an even better candidate than he started out being, and even weathers all that the Clintons can throw at him. Turns most of it back onto them as blowback.
The repubs weren't prepared for anyone other than Clinton, and certainly not for this guy who is turning out to be a more worthy competitor than they. It will be fun to watch them implode.

lighter versions of themselves that could be used as punching bags -- "Clintoon," "Hitlery," etc., all of which played well with the drooling clods. And they truly were looking forward to trotting out all the same old shit to use against Hillary in the general election. They won't get to do that now, and it's thrown them into a tailspin.

on Faux News and Operation Chaos, it's really something that Obama is the one with a double digit lead over Hillary. Wouldn't you say? It's also really something that Obama is basically in the same position vs. McCain as Hillary is after the extensive pounding he's received. Hillary, for all her claims of Sexism (don't make me laugh), has had it easy. If she had to take the scrutiny that Obama has taken she'd be finished by now.
If what you say about Obama's poll numbers is correct there is no way that he would be polling as well as he is. As you know blacks are only 13% of the population. So what constituency is keeping Obama's poll numbers up?

They're a one trick pony. They've been preparing for the Clinton fight so intensely that by the time they realized it wasn't going to be her I think they know they're outclassed. Obama's ability to rouse new voters has them terrified and his campaign organization has proven to be second to none.

I agree that they see Obama as a major threat and are trying to everything they can to destroy him so he doesn't win the Democratic nomination. Now, if the Democrats can stick together for once in November, we should have a pretty good shot at having a Democratic President!
