Did the media reveal that Bush was an Alcoholic or that McCain had Crashed 5 planes, and if so, |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-01-08 04:42 AM by FrenchieCat
when?
I heard that Bush was an alcoholic, but didn't hear about it till after the election...although I heard about his DUI right before....but not that he was an actual alcoholic.
Also, I haven't heard anything from the Corporate media that McCain had crashed 5 planes yet...although I read about it here and there from the alternative progressive media.
Why is that? Should'nt these facts have been really, really huge stories amplified like 24/7 for a few days on all of the Cable and News programs?

1. Oh Silly Silly FenchieCat.... |
|
They never dwell on the ne'er do wells who give the republican party just the right amount of sassy pazzaz...
If the fourth estate took time to peer quizzically behind the Red White and Blue facade that is the republican party, I fear we would only be a one party state...
And where would all the fun come from...

2. But it just ain't right...... |
|
I mean, shouldn't voters know this stuff beforehand?
It ain't like we are talking about degrees of separations here. We're talking about shit that these guys actually did.

3. It surely does seem as if there were two sets of rules... |
|
One for the party that favors the working class and none at all for the party that runs the owning class...

5. There was very little mention of W's drunken past, or his drug use, |
|
or his daughters drinking, etc. Bush's team warned the press that anyone writing about this would be excluded from covering the White House for all of W's time in office. I have no sources for this, but I did read a bit about it before even that was shut down. Bush is decended from Nazi sympathizers ahd has no respect for the constitution or the concept of "rights".
McCain has a nasty temper, and there have been many reports of his life-long pattern of irresponsible behavior. Much has been whitewashed because of his family connections. For Instance, there is now an investigation into a car accident he was involved in in 1964. Evidently records are still sealed by the Navy.
There is still a lot to be found out about both these guys, and not many are looking.

7. There is never any AIP talk either but then again |
|
maybe this is all for the best. I really like the fact that Barack sticks to the issues, even when he goes negative.

8. Yeah....but this ain't about Barack. This is about the media, |
|
and how they decide which stories get play, and which don't.

12. Yep. it was. The OP is forgetting how well that was covered |
|
the thing was, that the MSM covered his alcoholism and supposed recovery/conversion, sympathetically. That's why bushy got mileage out of it.

14. Before. There were LOTS of articles and coverage |
|
the thing is that the coverage was almost universally sympathetic- approaching it from the angle that he struggled to overcome his drinking problem and succeeded due to his new found resurgence of faith, blah, blah, blah.

15. Yes, but Bush was able to wave it off by saying |
|
he found god and that it was a youthful indiscretion. (Republicans are always able to say "youthful indiscretion" if it happened before today - Henry Hyde cheated on his wife when Hyde was in his 40s, but it was still a youthful mistake)
The revelation that he had been arrested for DUI did hurt him in the 2000 elections, supposedly.
