You get the sense that this time, it isn't just a slogan - The Whole World IS Watching. |
|
You suspect that typically our elections are a bit of a minor attention grabber for much of the rest of the world. But with our reputation trashed on a global level due to Bush/Cheney's utter contempt and disregard for everyone and everything except power at all costs, you just get the sense that there is a huge tail wind for Obama. Watching the world's major newspaper headlines this week will be very inspiring, I suspect. And, if funny business turns tomorrow into a disastrous surprise, the outrage and innuendo will be global as well.

2. It wasn't a slogan the first time we chanted it either |
|
But that was a long time ago...

7. Yes, agreed. But since Chicago, in the years in between, it has lost its meaning. |

13. I remember watching that ugly episode in our history |
|
with my Dad. I was screaming in horror asking him why? I think he was as appalled as I was.

I spoke to people in England, France, and Italy. They desperately want a change too.

4. Yes . Shamans in Peru are praying on top of the Andes Mountains |
|
Edited on Mon Nov-03-08 11:21 PM by Mira
there are other prayer vigils and gatherings, and my 84 year old mother called me today, from Germany, to laugh her head off about the crank Sarcosy call Sarah fell for. This is very very serious. It affects the global population, and they know it.

5. The whole world watched in 2004 too |
|
Do you not remember the front page of British papers that asked how 16 million people could be so dumb?

8. They watched, but Kerry, a good man, was/is no Obama. |
|
The historic nature of this election makes it different. The extra four years of Bush makes it different.

12. Bush was Bush in 2004 |
|
And the world was a lot more aware of what a horror he was than most people in the US were. The world is watching, but they wanted a change as badly in 2004 as they do now. The interest is heightened with the first African American candidate, but getting rid of the Republicans is the most important thing to the rest of the world.

9. You're bloody right the whole world is watching. |
|
People on other continents aren't able to sleep until they know the US has pulled back from the brink of even greater disasters than it has inflicted on everyone so far.
And there is so much good will towards US. We just can't blow it. NOT THIS TIME.

10. Actually, the whole world is watching every time, |
|
with much more interest than we give their politics, and arguably with more interest than we pay to our own politics.
But, I agree, this time is even bigger.

11. Here in Norway, the election is big in the media, |

has been for a long time.
US elections are fun (e.g. Palin!), and the big majority wants Obama to win.

14. While watching tomorrow night I am going to write the young boy |
|
we foster in Tanzania about our election. I am also sending him a picture of Obama. I think it will make him proud. But most of all I am anxiously awaiting to wake up on Jan. 20, 2009 to a world that once again is our friends. It has been too long.

15. The world watched the so called greatest Democracy have 2 stolen elections |
|
Now is the time for us to stop them and return to honest elections so that they and we can believe once again in our system of government.
