If you are going to have a Republican in the cabinet. Choose Charlie Crist |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-11-08 09:30 PM by Perky
I don't want this smart politician anywhere near a national ticket in 2012 or 2016.
Give hin Transportion or Commerce or Energy, just keep him out of presidential politics the next cycle,

boy toy and is leading Florida deeper into economic disaster.

Crist has gone out of his way to put miles of daylight between himself and John Ellis Bush (rightfully so).
Crist is a very shrewd politician and will be very hard to beat in 2010 for re-election and poses one of the largest threats to us in 2012. I think he will get a pass on the gay thing by the way from most moderates and Dems because he has never been part of the "morality police" and is one of those "keep the trains running on time" type of Republicans. His own party may or may not go after the gay issue but I don't think they would try to out him at this late point since they allowed him to get elected to the Governorship of the fourth most populous state in the union.
I'm much more afraid of Crist because he is a moderate than John Ellis Bush who was a conservative. In turn I was more afraid of John Ellis than George Walker because at least John Ellis was competent and polished and not in your face.

25. My response was to advocating for Crist being in the Cabinet. |
|
My response here is "par for the course" with regard to Crist being in any way shape or form an asset to Florida. He has allowed Jeb's gutting of the economy to continue. That is not putting daylight between him and Jeb.
He is not a moderate when it comes to economic issues. He is beholden to those who allowed him into power. Until he does right by the citizens of the state he is the same as Jeb.
As to his shrewdness, that's being generous. He's a boytoy. A gigolo for the corporations in Florida.

4. I respect Charlie Crist's integrity. |
|
And if I respect him, there's no way the repubs will nominate him. Also, since there are so many rumors about him being gay, there's no chance the homophobic party would give him the nod.

17. He's definitely a republican, but a somewhat honest one. |
|
It was Crist who made Obama's win in FL possible by demanding an honest election and actually seeing that the most people possible had a chance to vote. I'm not saying I like his political views or would ever vote for him, but I do respect his integrity.

21. They made him governor of the fourth largest state |
|
by population and until this cycle the second largest Republican state after Texas. I don't think they'd out him at this late date it would be too embarassing for the RPOF as well as the Republican party in general.

6. However, on second thought, the man is a closet gay.... |
|
I don't know how he's going to hide that. Being governor is one thing, and he's very polite to everyone so people aren't going after his head, but if he runs for president, OH BOY, are those closet tendencies of his going to literally come out!

In fact I'm most afraid of a Huckabee-Crist ticket in 2012.
Thosee who underestimate Charlie Crist do so at their own political peril.

9. No, just because Crist occassionaly shows signs of deceny for a Republican. |
|
And the Lieutenant Governor (I think his last name is Kottkamp) is your typical Jeb style Florida Republican. And as a Floridian I know we don't need more of that.

18. He was apparently briefly married then quickly divorced after a few weeks back in the 1970's... |
|
I think this is when he figured out he was gay...
His quote during the 2006 debates was "I'm for the sanctity of marriage just like I had before my own divorce."
Can't make this stuff up folks!
