Anyone who believes the wingnuts have cornered the market on whiny, self-important, jackasses ... |
|
hasn't visited DU lately. We have people here who believe that they know better than our candidate where his children should attend school, whom he should select as Secretary of State, why his choice of AG was not a good one, and how he should have reacted to l'affaire Lieberman. Holy Shit! This guy just ran the most brilliant campaign in decades, so who in the fuck are you to think that you know better than Senator Obama how to implement the change he promised us?
{Insert obligatory "What, I can't have an opinion" bluster here.}
Yeah, yeah, you're entitled to a fucking opinion. But opinions are like assholes ... everyone has one, most of them stink, and nobody is interested in your's.

1. Yes by ALL MEANS lets just remain uncritical mindless automotons. |
|
The notion that our leaders "know better than we, the people do" so we should just sit down and shut up is a decidedly conservative worldview that I reject.

6. Why are so many liberals incapable of thinking in anything but black and white terms? |
|
Nobody is saying that there should be no criticism of Obama, yet if somebody is frustrated by the amount of complaining going on, immediately some folks scream 'STOP REPRESSING US!!!'

23. Rather ironic, isn't it? They don't want to shut up but they want other |
|
people to shut up.
Anyway, I would much rather have seen Lieberman's ass get kicked out. I would like to see him humiliated. But I'm certainly not mad at Obama for what happened. He TOLD us he was gonna be different. He TOLD us he's not about revenge. He has TOLD us over and over again that he's not interested in blue state, red state, republican, democrat. He's interested in America and Americans. Why didn't people LISTEN?
Obama has his opinions on how things should be. I don't always agree with him. Most of the time I do. I just can't imagine working up a really good rage at Obama just because we differ, though. He has a good head on his shoulders. And I happen to think that Lieberman wouldn't DARE step out of line after this. And if he does, how about we arrange a little recall in Connecticut?

3. Why is it that during the entire campaign it was "WE can make change" |
|
And now that he's elected it's the change "HE is going to bring?"
It's interesting.

12. I don't think that he ever said that.... |
|
...change meant getting even and holding grudges. That wouldn't be change, that would be politics as usual.
What makes you think that WE want the changes you want?????
Everyone knows that campaigns are over-the-top. Whatever Hillary did or Leiberman did is history. Let the voters of Connecticutt decide Leibermans fate...they re-elected him.

15. "Getting even" and "holding grudges" have absolutely nothing to do with what I wrote. |
|
I just find it interesting that during Obama's campaign a recurrent theme was that he couldn't do it without us. That change rises from the bottom up.
And now I'm hearing from a lot of Obama partisans that we need to sit down and let him do things as he sees fit. The we owe him our trust. That HE is going to change things (from the top.)
It just feels like they're saying that the bottom up contribution to this process is over. That what WE have contributed was our vote and that now we need to sit back and trust Obama to go the right way.
My irritation is not with Obama. He's a centrist. I'm hip to that. It's the DUer's who are taking an aggressive "don't criticize, because Obama ran a great campaign" tact that I have a problem with.
This guy needs to be pushed. Not given space to be moved in the wrong direction. It's up to each citizen to decide which way to push him, but we shouldn't be sitting back.
IMHO.

28. All Obama said is that Lieberman should caucus with the DEMS. |
|
Did Obama ever specifically say that Lieberman should retain his chair?
If not, then we need stop repeating the meme that this was all Obama's idea.
I agreed with Obama that he should caucus with and continue to vote with the DEMS- Joe's CT constituents would have voted him out if he didnt, so I never saw that as an issue or as Joe's trump card at all....

26. The "who the fuck are you" was clearly and explictly directed at those ... |
|
who feel that they know better than Barack Obama how to create an administration. If you are among that number, then you actually may be as self-important as you seem.
As for "the rule of law, accountability, and transparency", please indicate what laws Barack has broken, how his choices lack transparency, and how his public selection of cabinet members will be lacking in accountability. If he picks them, he's accountable, genius.
(But the "little fucking howler monkey" was cute. Sophomoric and reeking of projection, but still cute.)

He ran a campaign. He is a great politician at getting votes. Now we want him to change things. Being a great politician is not enough in my book. He actually has to do something and yes goddamn something I think is worthwhile as in- oh the horror YES I SAID IT- Democratic ideals. So damn partisan of me.
I think he will do good things. But he has achieved nothing yet. Nothing. Of course he hasn't had the time-I realize. He isn't even president yet. But never mind. The cult of personality continues. Why are ASSHOLES like you on a DISCUSSION board if you don't want to discuss? Where is the worship Barrack Obama underground site? Maybe there will be a spin off. You can start your own site like the uber lefties did. And then we can never even mention your name!
