And do you seriously believe there is no one experienced outside of the Clinton/Bush cabal?
Clinton as Secretary of State? Where's her experience, other than voting for the Iraq war and for supporting Bush's Africa militarization plans?

Are you a complete moron? They are nothing alike. You know I'm not a big Hillary or Bill fan myself but they are smart and they are competant and if Obama (who is smarter than most here, I bet) they can do the job I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt. Jeezus you clinton haters are fucking ridiculous.

|
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 04:36 PM by Tempest
As a Liberal, of course I'm not going to be happy with her pick.
And I noticed you gave no examples of her experience which would help as SoS.
Funny how DU has turned into "us vs. them" by the rabid Obama supporters.
Some of us are expressing our disapproval of Obama's choices and we're getting cruxified for it.
Well, FUCK YOU!
I'm no fan of Hillary, but I'm no Clinton hater either. I'm still defending Bill Clinton's administration to my conservative friends.

Do we really want a bunch of people eliminated from consideration just because they happened to have served in the Clinton administration? (Or even a superbly qualified person who happened to serve in a Republican administration - oh, wait . . . . )

49. It's not the last 8 years, it's the last 28 years! |
|
True, the last 8 were so blatantly horrible that only the most brain dead FAUX noize fans couldn't see it. But this didn't start on 1/20/2001 or even 12/12/2000. This started the day Reagan took office, and it escalated the day that two Republicans named Al From and Will Marshall decided they were going to bring down the Democratic party by infiltration, and called their group of moles the "Democratic Leadership Council".

It's almost as if he's not president yet....
Define change for me. Right now. What did you expect to happen so soon? Did you not listen to the victory speech?

14. I hear nothing but more whining |
|
Do you want inexperienced, non-Washington people being part of the administration? That hasn't worked too well in the past. Carter tried it and failed, even with a Democratic congress.
Do you want people who know how to get things done? Can't get them without looking through the last few administrations. We've had word of a few Cabinet picks, many of them still mere speculation. Give him some time before you declare this all for nothing. Who's to say Clinton people can't get the job done?
It's been TWO WEEKS. Have some goddamn patience. Rome wasn't built in a day - after the downward spiral of the last eight years, it's gonna take some time.

Why are Obama's picks all coming from the rightwing side of the party?
And Goddamn right there will be whining.
Unless you want the mindless admiration we've seen from conservatives over the last 8 years.

|
The party is centrist majority. BTW, Dennis Kucinich is NOT respected or liked by memebers of HIS OWN party (he has a cosistant power ranking of in the 100-200's in congress vs another progressive like Chris Van Hollen who is in the top 20 and has been here far less time) Liberals make up 17% of the country. Tell me why Obama governing from the minority would be anything but political suicide. Wait I forgot anyone who's not as progressive as YOU is worthless right? Goddamnit but left wing nuts sure sound like right wing nuts sometimes.

Whoever gave that lofty speech full of lofty progressive rhetoric shows no resemblance to the man making these picks. Sorry to sway from the personality cult that seems to have many enforcers here. This is about POLICY. So far - no "real and fundamental change."

8. Competence but not inspiration yet. It all depends on what he ACCOMPLISHES. |
|
The fact that every one of his selections is thus far representative of the right wing of the party does not give this old liberal much hope that he will do more than slightly retard the destruction wreaked by the pukes, with Democratic complicity. He has not even thrown a bone to the left. I guess we should just go away until the next election. he certainly is listening more to McCain and JoeLie than Dennis Kucinich or Bernie Sanders or Russ Feingold.

I agree - he's made an early impression (and I don't mind some Clinton people in the cabinet - they are the experienced ones,) but it's way too early to make a final judgment. The people he has chosen can definitely get things done. Kucinich would be great for Labor, and maybe RFJ Jr. for Interior. There is room for the liberal wing. All I ask is that he listen to progressives like he says he will listen to Republicans.

33. I haven't seen any surprises so far. |
|
He's been doing what I expected for over a year. I suspect the left wing will get a bone or two, the right wing will get a bone or two, and the middle will get the main feast. I'm not crazy about it, but it's what I expected, so to turn around and say Obama has let me down wouldn't be fair. I would have had to be up in the first place, and he never raised my lefty expectations. It's why he was my next to last pick in the primaries.
But I'm willing to give him time to actually do something before getting up in his grill. :)

Stop with that weak argument. A simple 20 minute crash course into Clinton, and all the scumbags who endorse her as SoS, will tell you all you need to know about why she's a terrible choice for ANY role outside of the Senate.
The only positive outcome of her as SoS? It not only scares TRUE liberals, but it scares the shit of the right too.
