How did they make it EEEEEEVIL! I just do not understand |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-03-09 02:48 PM by iwillalwayswonderwhy
How did they do it? How could they convince anybody?
You get sick, you go to the doctor, he checks you, you stop at the drugstore on the way home and pick up a prescription. You take the medicine. You get better. You didn't have to spend the grocery money.
EEEEEEEEVIL!
Your son breaks his leg. You take him to the E.R. They x-ray it, doctor checks it, puts a cast on it, gives the kid some crutches. You can still make your mortgage payment.
EEEEEEEEVIL!
You're diagnosed with cancer. A treatment plan is set up. There are several hospitalizations, perhaps even surgery. One road goes to remaining comfortable with hospice serving you with dignity as you exit. The other, perhaps brings remission and health and joy. Nobody goes bankrupt. Nobody loses their home.
EEEEEEEEVIL!
How? How did they do it? How did they convince people who need health care? I just can't believe they've managed to convince anybody. But they have.
It's so incredibly frustrating. Health care for everybody. NOT EEEEVIL!

3. Somehow, through the magic of television I suppose |
|
they have convinced a portion of the American population that removing any right, any profit, or any convenience from a large corporation is a direct infringement upon individual rights, profits, and liberty.
They see the corporation (a legal structure) as a human being, as goes one so goes all. I've actually heard from left-leaning friends that you shouldn't boycott (it should be illegal to organize a boycott even), because you're damaging the human being who made the company, you're killing their dream...
Propaganda is not a toy. It's powerful stuff. The social engineering in this nation is an incredible thing to observe. I'm constantly amazed and impressed at how good they've become at this skill - and how good people are at doublethink.

6. No magic like Obama on TV saying that Insurance Corps |
|
"deserve to profit". So is that TV's fault, or Obama's? Did the 'magic' camera make him say that, or did he set that as the agenda of reform, again and again?

7. Are you suggesting that Obama originated this line of thought? |
|
Personally, I think he's just another in a long line of "leaders" who think exactly this way. Maybe I've made it up all along, to cope with the sudden institution of corporatism. I thought the OP was about why regular people go along with the BS.

13. Don't they have to, how else will they pay for the health care? |
|
They have to take in at least as much as the health care costs.
Which would be the case with taxes if the government paid for it. though then it would be easier to tax the rich more.

4. The first step is to refuse to believe any of that would happen |
|
Most health care opponents at this point aren't reacting to the idea that fewer people will go without health care; they're going on the assumption that Obama will harvest the kulaks' organs to feed to enemies of the state or something similarly surreal.

They make people afraid that their current insurance coverage, which the majority of people only use for minor issues is good enough and if a new way is implemented, they will lose what they have. Even though what they have is inadequate in the case of a major illness.
It's the perception that the government will take from the citizens. It's a fear tactic that works, unfortunately.
