Remember a few months back when RWers THREW A FIT over the DHS report |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-10-09 07:58 PM by Empowerer
warning that some disaffected military personnel could be susceptible to violence?
Remember Joe Scarborough, et al, screaming bloody murder at even the SUGGESTION that a member of our armed forces could engage in violent acts? "How DARE Janet Napolitano attack our men and women in uniform!" they bellowed.
And now these same people are attacking the military establishment, the intelligence community and law enforcement for not predicting that a particular military officer was unstable and dangerous.
Of course, that particular military officer isn't a "real" American. He, as we are constantly reminded, is a MUSLIM and therefore, apparently, HIS odd behavior should have raised red flags.
Is it just me or does anyone else suspect that this handwringing over the failure to predict this violence has less to do with real concerns about too much "political correctness" and more to do with a desire to exploit this tragedy as an opportunity to justify a return to harsher and less self-conscious racial and ethnic profiling.

4. Sadly, there are many in the media and govt who are more than happy to exploit this |

this tragedy for their own self-serving ends....just as they did with the 9/11 tragedy. And if anyone argues with them, they immediately start yelling "You hate America!".
Gawd...I hope we are not going to have that same shit once again.....

If it weren't so cynical and sad, it would be funny.
These people fell all over themselves back then to try to shift blame away from the potential criminals - and, by extension, themselves - probably because they assumed he would be a white Christian whose political philosophy was an extreme version of their own. But now tat the next one proved to be, as you noted, not a "real" American, but one of them Muslims, they are the first to point ther fingers and demand accountability from the same public officials whom they castigated earlier this year when they tried to warn us about the potential for violence.
