From AlaDem blog- Despicable Repub gay-hating campaign smear flyer

I found out the details on this from the AleDem blog (link with latest update below)

These Republicans have no shame, this is from a special state house election in rural Alabama and the Republican candidate sent a mailer to thousands of voters attacking Democrat Gloria Dolbare.

The flyer is nothing but a gay-hating pack of lies.

Gloria Dolbare, after 30 years marriage is a recent widow of a lay pastor (the reason for the special election was that her deceased husband held the seat), a special education teacher and a Sunday school teacher.

The flyer questions her faith and accuses her of being a pro-gay supporter because she refused to sign a Christian Coalition pledge to support the ban on gay marriage amendment.

For starters, Mrs. Dolbare was never approached by the CC and never saw the pledge.

The flyer is a vile and despicable example of just how low these hate filled Republicans will go.

Post a reply to Quaoar's post in GD:Politics forum if you have time - it would be nice to keep some positive news from our state kicked for more than a nanosecond on these boards. I'm not a cynic and I'm not bitter, but I think we can all agree that if the story was about some nasty political victory that the vile Alabama chapter of the Christian Coalition had scored in the legislature here, folks would be lining up to post their disgust with our state and our region.

Let's let our light shine whenever the opportunity presents itself!

And southlandshari is right, lets keep it kicked... these Repubs are despicable and we need to bring attention to the Dems fighting back.

The Repubs in Montgomery are reeling on how to condemn, deny, or avoid this.

They are so much on the defensive that it could screw up their plans for a two year long hate campaign.
