BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Republican Rep. Spencer Bachus easily won renomination to his House seat Tuesday, turning back a challenge from Roy Moore attorney Phillip Jauregui, whose under-financed campaign mirrored themes promoted by the ousted chief justice.
Meanwhile, Democratic freshman Rep. Artur Davis of Birmingham beat Perry County Commissioner Albert Turner, and Rep. Bud Cramer of Huntsville trounced political newcomer Michael Williams.
Gerry Wallace and Stephen Engel will meet in a runoff for the GOP nomination to oppose Cramer in the north Alabama district. A third candidate, Nate Bailie, trailed badly.
The four other members of the state's House delegation were unopposed in their party primaries.
