Anyone have link for a good state map? |
|
I swear, I hate this damned town, but I love my hubby's union lol. And please, if anyone cares to repeat this, please don't mention where it came from lol. I'd be raising holy hell if I didn't know it would be the excuse our city used to fire hubby.
So anyway, did y'all know Dothan is the 7th largest city in Bama? And our city manager makes more money than the governor. Our city manager is the second highest paid in the state. Our city commission is the third highest. Our chief of police, the fifth highest. Our pd, on the other hand, is the 51st. No cost of living raise in four fucking years. I can no longer afford to buy a house on my own fucking street, and I ain't living high on the hog here, ya know?
So, the pd union was nice enough to print the 50 cities (pds) in the state that pay more than ours. We have no problem relocating. We aren't from here. I'm from Atlanta (imagine what a nightmare Dothan is for me 80% of the time). I have this list of cities, but I have no idea where most of them are, and I can't find a good map. So if anyone has a map link, I'd really appreciate it. Hell, if anyone can help me out, I'll post this list lol.

is to put in 20 years with the Birmingham PD, retire and start drawing your pension, and then go work for one of the suburban PDs.

3. I can't imagine why lol |

those suburban pd's pay a lot more than B'ham. It is 27th on this list by the way. Hoover and Pelham are 1 and 2 (aren't they B'ham suburbs?) and there is close to a 12k difference in starting salaries between them and B'ham. Huntsville is 8, Montgomery is 17, and Mobile is 45. There's one more city bigger than Dothan. Anyone know what it is? Tuscaloosa? It is 20th.
I could rant all day between the city of Dothan and the Bama National Guard lol. I am just completely fed up with the good ole boy crap. There's no money to give city employees a pay raise, but plenty to give their buddies business grants and pay outrageous salaries to the city manager and new police chief?
Ugh...I'm shutting up before I really get rolling again lol.

5. Hoover and Pelham are just south of Birmingham. |
|
Pelham is in Shelby County and has an autocratic mayor. Hoover is bigger but is currently going through some political upheaval.

I don't know much anything about local Hoover politics, but the high-school football team is really getting a lot of national exposure. A nationally televised game on ESPN (August 27, I think), and a reality show on MTV. I hope it doesn't turn ugly.

8. I hope I remember to watch that |
|
It's really unusual for a high school game to be on national tv.
