any thoughts on the Tuscaloosa mayoral race? |
|
I live outside the city limits so I can't vote anyway, but I'm trying to decide who to root for.
The Tuscaloosa News endorsed Sammy Watson, which isn't really surprising. He's got to be the favorite, but I don't trust a grown man that calls himself "Sammy" unless he's Sammy Davis Jr.
Watson seems to represent the Tuscaloosa establishment, and that's a strike against him as far as I'm concerned. He's not a bad guy, but I think we can do better.
Tom Bruner seems like a genuinely good man, but he seems to think he was chosen by God to be mayor. Understandably, I think, that makes me nervous.
Walt Maddox just seems to be too young and inexperienced. I'll leave it at that.
Mark Booth seems honest and passionate about what he could accomplish as mayor. I don't know a lot about him really, but I'm leaning toward supporting him.
All things considered, I don't think there's a terrible choice among them. But I would like to have some input as to what you think.

1. I think we could use some youth so I like Maddox. If not him then Watson. |
|
I didn't see the debate but I hear that Watson did very well.

I forgot about it. Sammy seems like a nice guy.

It's a runoff 'twixt Maddox and Watson. I'm liking Walt. Go Walt!

4. I can't believe DuPont is finally stepping down. |

I figured that old bastard would stay in office until they had to start keeping him in an icebox.

Yeah, Al was starting to smell! But I don't have any major complaints about him. The mayor is mainly a caretaker I guess.

7. It's Watson vs. Maddox now |
|
Guess I would go with Maddox now, but I can't vote.

I can live with that. I prefer him to Watson, who boasted he would win without a runoff. I like it.

When I saw your subject line "Man, That Watson Stuff" I thought you were going to refer to his negative campaigning! But I guess Watson went overboard on campus, because that was a strong Maddox area.
