UA Get on Board Day - Report

Today at UA was the 'get on board' day. Among other people (the college rethugs for example) there was a College Democrats table which did cracking business and the Kerry table (which I manned for a couple of hours).

At the Kerry table we took over 60 volunteer registrations to help out in Tuscaloosa with the campaign. We registered a lot of voters. Over at the College Dem table they were registering voters left and right, we both gave out bumper stickers (and had to send out for more).

The only 'down side' was the number of Rethug stickers on people's shirts. Unfortunately we had no Kerry/Dem stickers to counter this with.

I am not a student here, but thought this a good way to help get our message across. There are a lot of bright young people out there. They see the truth and want to help. It is great to see the level of support that exists.

Are there any plans to "invade" UA at a Saturday football game? I see nothing but GOP stickers and 'Bama games and I think we need a specific game to go overboard with Dem paraphanalia. Again, you guys did an awesome job with the display case at the Ferguson Center. If you need any help from me on a Saturday, just tell me on here and I will do my best to help out. There are people working this Saturday prior to the games for various state candidates in particular - and of course for Kerry in general. I will not be there myself but will try to hunt up some details for you.

Getting 60 volunteer registrations is outstanding. Its hard for any party to get that many volunteers in a major city, much less one of our 'towns' in Alabama.

I am going to be manning the phones at our Dem. HQ in the coming weeks. We have to be willing to put our time in on this stuff. People that like and admire us will see the commitment and do the same. Good work keep it up.
