what about them ethics reforms?

I'm pretty ignorant about the "ethics reforms" just passed by the newly Republican legislature. I haven't studied them a bit. So I'm here to ask anybody that knows, are the soon-to-be-laws good?

My default position is to believe anything that Republicans do is probably bad.

John Archibald didn't seem to impressed in the B'Ham News Friday, but I only scanned his column. (Geez, I'm getting so politically lazy... probably understandably so, as things stand.)
