1. at one time, I think we had one of the most active state forums, per capita |
|
Definitely, per Democratic capita. :)
So many great posters have come and gone. I think one or two of them may've been trolls, but as long as they acted and posted exactly like good Democrats, I couldn't care less about that. (But it does make me question their mental health.)
But of the ones I'm reasonably sure were sincere... bamalefty, southlandshari, liberaltrucker, onebluedot, the guy that was president of Auburn's SGA (can't recall his handle), the hilarious nealmhughes... I'll stop there... don't want to leave anyone out.
I've gone through spurts when I was posting a lot in here, trying to churn up discussion. But it got to feeling I was yelling into a canyon... except there was no echo.

2. auyellowdog was the handle I was trying to recall |
|
And I don't think he was the president of Auburn's SGA, but rather he was the head of the college Democrats at Auburn University. I hope I got that correct now, and sorry for any confusion.

3. It seems to be pretty much just the two of us. |
|
I vote we rename it The Syrinx - trof Forum. ;-)

4. I'll go along with that... |
|
As long as the word "Memorial" isn't involved. :)

6. I'll add my voice to this thread |
|
I like to be able to check what's happening in my native state, but I've had a lot of other things going on lately.
I am interested in how the new Thiesman Krup (sp?) steel plant is affecting Clarke County, where Trof has a relative.
By the way, Trof, did you know that a Chinese company is opening a plant in Thomasville? I think it's called Dragon something. Our grandparents would be astounded.

7. Copper tubing plant, however... |
|
I read recently that the company is reconsidering since the 'illegal immigrant' law was passed.

8. Did you see where a German (Mercedes manager, I think) |
|
was taken to jail for not having docs required by Alabama? Someone had to bring his passport, German drivers license, etc. before he was released.

There was a post in LBN and in GD, I think. I read news stories on al.com every morning and first saw it there.

10. I would think that people in Alabama would be |
|
conflicted about the arrest of the Mercedes manager. On the one hand, there is a distrust of outsiders, but, on the other hand, Alabama needs job.

11. Wasn't that, in a sense, positive news? |
|
The cops followed the law, even though the guy was white and German?
I think this law is crazy and hateful, and unworkable. That said, the fact that a big-money German executive was arrested under it seems like a good mark for the state of Alabama, rather than a bad mark. Or, am I missing something?
